Climbing Jacks

Climbing jacks have successfully been used for over forty years for lifting and skid heavy structures on petrochemical, crane erection, energy and civil projects.

Bidlift can supply either 120 or 453 Tonne capacity units which can be used individually or in combination to lift loads of any size.

Each Kramo climbing jack comprises a pair of lifting cylinders, equalizer cylinders, head blocks and wedge change over mechanism. The jack grips onto a square bar using a top and bottom set of wedges. By extending / retracting the main cylinders the jack climbs up the square bar.

Each head block has an up turned 'V' shape cut out which the square passes through. Either side of the square bar sits a wedge. As load is applied to the jacks the wedges are forced into the narrowing slot, compressing them into the bars. Should there be a hydraulic failure the wedges mechanically engage locking both top and bottom head blocks.

All jacks are over load tested and independently witnessed by Lloyds Register.
